The Industrial Journeyman Maintenance Electrician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing electrical systems, industrial machinery, and plant equipment within a manufacturing or industrial environment. This role ensures safe and reliable operation of production systems through preventative maintenance, quick response to equipment issues, and adherence to electrical codes and safety standards.
Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical equipment, including motors, PLCs, drives, industrial control panels, power distribution systems, and production machinery.
Perform troubleshooting of electrical faults using meters, diagnostic instruments, and schematics.
Install and upgrade electrical systems, conduit, wiring, and components per NEC standards.
Execute routine preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
Inspect electrical systems and identify potential issues before failures occur.
Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation.
Interpret and work from electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
Install and modify control circuits, motor controls, VFDs, and automation-related wiring.
Assist with equipment relocations, upgrades, and new installations.
Work closely with production, engineering, and other maintenance personnel to address equipment issues efficiently.
Provide technical input for continuous improvement projects.
Train or mentor apprentices or maintenance staff when required.
Valid Journeyman Electrician License (state-issued).
Minimum of 3–5 years industrial or manufacturing electrical experience.
Strong knowledge of NEC, electrical theory, and industrial power distribution.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
Experience with 3-phase systems, motors, controls, and VFDs.
Skilled in troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
Experience with industrial automation, robotics, and instrumentation.
Familiarity with CMMS systems for tracking maintenance work.
Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
Associate degree or technical training in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, or related field.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work from ladders or elevated platforms.
Work in hot, cold, or noisy environments when required.
Availability for overtime, shift work, and on-call rotation as needed.
Industrial or manufacturing setting.
Exposure to machinery, electrical sources, moving equipment, and industrial hazards.
Use of PPE required (e.g., safety glasses, gloves, arc-flash gear).
