SUMMARY

Lays out, fits, and welds fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks, and material handling equipment by performing the following duties.

Pay will depend on experience and weld test during interview.  $18+

Must be able to do a smooth, steady width, no burns, and hold a flat wide weld bead for that perfect cosmetic look wanted.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding.

Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.

Grinds welds to required finish

Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.

Sets up equipment and welds parts, using manual gas metal arc welding (GMAW) and/or manual gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) and gas welding equipment.

Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

QUALIFICATIONS  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Individual must pass the Blueprint Reading & Mathematics Test with a score of 80% or better and must pass the Weld Test to the satisfaction of the Plant Supervisor or designated personnel. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Also two years experience blue print reading is required.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blue prints, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
