Job Summary

The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, operational performance, and strategic direction of a medium-sized manufacturing facility. This role oversees production, maintenance, quality, engineering, and safety to ensure the plant meets business objectives related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee engagement. The Plant Manager drives continuous improvement, fosters a strong safety culture, and ensures efficient, compliant, and profitable plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and accountability for plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality, engineering, and safety

  • Establish and drive plant goals and performance metrics aligned with company objectives

  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements (OSHA/MIOSHA)

  • Lead and develop management and supervisory teams to build a high-performing organization

  • Manage plant budgets, labor planning, capital expenditures, and cost control initiatives

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost

  • Collaborate with Sales, Supply Chain, and Engineering to meet customer requirements and production demands

  • Oversee equipment maintenance, capacity planning, and capital improvement projects

  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and employee engagement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Minimum of 3 years of plant management or senior operations leadership experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, quality systems, and maintenance practices

  • Proven experience leading cross-functional teams in a medium-sized manufacturing facility

  • Demonstrated success in driving operational improvements and managing budgets

  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in automotive, aerospace, or industrial manufacturing

  • Lean Six Sigma certification or similar operational excellence training

  • Experience working in union and/or non-union environments
